Hairline Back was founded by Kate Newton, an award-winning Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) artist based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
Since opening in 2018, Kate has built a reputation as one of the leading SMP practitioners in the North of England, known for her natural results, attention to detail, and client-focused approach.
Trained by industry-leading experts and holding a Level 4 qualification — the only government-recognised certification in Scalp Micropigmentation — Kate combines advanced technical skill with an artistic eye to deliver results that are both realistic and tailored to the individual.
Before specialising in SMP, Kate worked within the NHS as a cardiac physiologist. This medical background underpins her commitment to client safety, professionalism, and discretion, ensuring every treatment is carried out to the highest standards.
In 2023, Kate was selected to represent the globally recognised pigment brand 5PM Shadow as a professional artist — becoming the first female SMP artist in the UK to receive this honour. This reflects her standing within the industry and dedication to excellence.
